WHAT'S ON IN WINCHESTER - FEBRUARY 2023

Valentine’s celebrations aside, here’s some additional noteworthy happening in Winchester this February.

How about some time travel? 878AD lets you step into Anglo-Saxon Winchester in a brand-new immersive experience. Experience the sights and sounds of Anglo-Saxon Winchester and discover the stories of the people who lived there, brought to life with the spectacular world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Discovery Tour: Viking Age. 878 AD is a seamless experience in two parts: an interactive attraction with live performance and

The Theatre Royal Winchester always has a varied calendar with something that will appeal to everyone. This February features an array of comedy, drama, music and more to entertain. Here’s a few of our highlights:

• February1st - The Crucible by Arthur Miler Directed by Lyndsey Turner
• A witch hunt is beginning in Arthur Miller’s captivating parable of power with Erin Doherty (The Crown) and Brendan Cowell (Yerma). Top notch theatre in this National Theatre Live screening.
• February 9th - Danny Baker: At Last… Buckle up at Curtain Up because here we go again! The third (and final) part of the trilogy that began with the sell-out Cradle To Stage nights, charged on through the Good Time Charley shows now reaches its peak with (At Last) The Sausage Sandwich
  Tour! Danny Baker's concluding chapter of high kicking euphoria. A superb chance to catch this much-loved radio and TV personality in full flow.
• February 11th - Maisie Adam: Buzzed Fresh from Live at The Apollo, A League of Their Own, Mock The Week, and The Last Leg, Best Newcomer nominee Maisie Adam is back with her new show Buzzed. A top night of witty observations, high-octane energy and some great jokes, this
  one is bound to be a full house.
• February 19th - The Greatest Magician A dazzling new magic show - presented by the magician most famous for jamming the BBC switchboards after he correctly predicted the lottery. This astonishing, enigmatic, five star rated magic show will leave you aching from laughter and
  dizzy in disbelief. Witness the incredible, live on stage. February 22nd - Tenors Un Limited: Celebrating Twenty Years Popularly known as ‘the rat-
  pack of opera’, Tenors Un Limited came together twenty years ago to bring their own special combination of popular opera, musical theatre, iconic classical and original songs to the world and redefine the perception of a 'tenor' in the 21st century. Catch this amazing trio live at The Theatre Royal.

And lastly, how about a visit to Westgate Museum? Located at the top of the High Street in the historic city of Winchester, Westgate Museum is housed inside a surviving fortified medieval city gateway. A debtors’ prison for 150 years, this beautifully refurbished listed monument is the last of
the main medieval gates into the city. Today, Westgate Museum’s displays include a famous collection of pre-imperial weights and measures and a fine painted ceiling made for Winchester College in anticipation of a visit by Mary Tudor and Philip of Spain on the occasion of their marriage in Winchester in 1554. The museum tells the story of this remarkable building, and the history of Tudor and Stuart Winchester, and offers great rooftop city views.
