We are very proud our food and drinks here at The Winchester Hotel & Spa, and we believe a great meal and a warm welcome are the cornerstones of true hospitality.

Alfred’s Bar is our relaxed destination for drinks, lunch and dinner, offering a stylish setting. Less formal than our restaurant, the menu caters to those wishing to enjoy lighter meals, including burgers, pasta and sandwiches, and is family friendly. Our wonderful terrace area has a retractable cover, making it ideal year-round. With heaters and a pleasant ambiance, we like to think of it as our outdoor lounge. A great spot to enjoy a relaxed drink during your stay with us in Winchester. For those visiting with their furry friends, it is worth noting that both Alfred’s Bar and our terrace are dog-friendly.

Many of our guests delight in taking our Afternoon Tea. A time honoured British tradition, Afternoon Tea at The Winchester Hotel & Spa encompasses freshly prepared cakes, pastries and sandwiches alongside a selection of teas and we offer an optional upgrade to include a glass of Prosecco for that special occasion. Available daily between 12:30 and 5pm, from January to November, it’s the perfect treat when visiting historic Winchester.

For a more formal affair, Alfred’s Restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, serving a modern European menu in a stylish setting. With a focus on seasonal produce, our aim is to provide guests with a truly memorable dining experience. Al fresco dining on the terrace is a Winchester summer staple, and makes the perfect spot to enjoy our wine list. Year-round, Alfred’s Restaurant is open to both guests and non-residents alike, providing a sophisticated taste of Hampshire’s culinary delights.

If you are looking to host a special event, we offer an array of options for private dining. From canapés for 120 guests, to a celebratory dinner for 30, our Head Chef has created a range of menus suitable for all events, and we would love to discuss your specific needs.

And what of Christmas? For the 2023 Festive Season we are offering a special Christmas menu filled with traditional favourites, available to larger groups in our Crystal Room, as well as to smaller, more intimate gatherings in Alfred’s Restaurant. We have a few party options available, so you can make The Winchester Hotel & Spa the centre of your holiday celebrations.

For the ultimate festive treat, join us for our Christmas Day Lunch. Let us take care of everything, as you enjoy cocktails and canapés in our Alfred’s Bar, followed by an extra special Christmas Day Lunch in Alfred’s Restaurant. All of the Christmas magic, none of the stress and mess. Perfect!
